RMH Foundation

Who we are …

RMH Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit corporation registered in the State of Illinois.  It was incorporated in 1983 and is governed by a 13 member Board composed of area residents who are interested in the future of healthcare and its availability to area residents.  The Board is assisted by additional area residents who serve on various Committees.

What we do …

RMH Foundation’s mission is to raise friends and raise funds on behalf of Richland Memorial Hospital.
- The Annual Support Committee conducts an annual appeal to raise funds for specific equipment or program purchases as identified by the Foundation Board with input from RMH Administration.
- The Business and Industry Committee works with area businesses to identify ways in which Richland Memorial Hospital can be of assistance to their organization.  This can include arranging for items such as AED or CPR training for staff, development of additional capabilities for new employee physicals, or other activities.
- The Charity Classic Committee coordinates the annual golf outing held each September at the Richland County Club.  This outing is the primary method for raising $25,000 annually for the Medical School Student Tuition Fund.

Other fund-raising activities include the Holiday Tour of Homes (Christmas house walk) and the Ride for the HEALTH of It! (poker run) as well as opportunities to purchase engraved pavers to be placed at the entrance to the Hospital and a memorials program.

In addition to funds raised by RMH Foundation activities, the RMH Foundation is the recipient of funds designated for use on behalf of Hospice.  These funds may be in the form of memorials for Hospice patients or funds resulting from fund-raising activities conducted by volunteers on behalf of Hospice.

Why we do it …

The ways in which health care is provided, and funded, at the local, state, and national levels have changed since the RMH Foundation was formed in 1983 and are about to undergo potentially significant changes again as a result of current health care reform activities.

Richland Memorial Hospital provides services to all patients regardless of payment source, whether via ambulance services, Emergency Room, inpatient stay, outpatient care, long term care, or home health and hospice services provided in the home.  However, providing these necessary health care services to our area’s indigent, uninsured, and underinsured residents results in expenditures for which there is not adequate compensation.

Given these challenges, the need for strong and ongoing philanthropic support for Richland Memorial Hospital will remain essential for the continued provision of quality health care services to area residents.
