Admission Criteria
In order for patients to qualify for services through Hospice of Southeastern Illinois they must meet the following criteria:
- The patients must have an irreversible disease with a terminal prognosis of six months or less. This is determined by the attending physician and the Hospice Medical Director.
- The patient and his/her family must understand the hospice philosophy of comfort versus curative care and request hospice care.
- The patient must have a primary caregiver. If family members or friends cannot meet this role, patients can arrange for hired caregivers or utilize long-term care facilities.
